United Way of Winnipeg is an independent, nonpolitical organization that builds upon the strength of volunteers and voluntary action by engaging the whole community for the benefit of the whole community.
United Way of Winnipeg was incorporated in 1965 through a unique partnership between the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce and the Winnipeg Labour Council. This relationship continues to be strong to this day as United Way works to engage corporations, government, labour, and community organizations to seek solutions to community social needs all year long. There are 15 United Ways throughout Manitoba and 125 United Ways/Centraides in Canada. United Way's mission is to promote and strengthen the organized capacity of people to care for one another. ln this statement guides its autonomous local Board of Directors and thousands of volunteers who raise and invest significant dollars into services that make our community stronger, safer and more caring.
